TS Govt brings PRLIS under Kaleshwaram project

In a major decision, the Telangana State Government on Saturday decided to include the Palamuru-Ranga Reddy Lift Irrigation Scheme (PRLIS) as an additional mandate of Kaleshwaram Irrigation Project Corporation Limited.With this decision, KIPCL becomes the authority to oversee all works related to PRLIS. The government also nominated the Chief Engineer, PRILS to the KIPCL Board of Directors.


In a G.O. issued on Saturday, the government said PRLIS Chief Engineer, and Managing Director, Kaleshwaram Irrigation Project Corporation Limited, shall coordinate to ensure arrangement of balance funds, if any, through debt/equity for early completion of the Palamuru project.


The Government had approved the Rs 32,500 crore Palamuru-Ranga Reddy Lift Irrigation Scheme in 2015 and so far, on works and land acquisition for Package-1 to Package-18, it has spent Rs.6,874 crore. The decision to bring PRLIS under the Kaleshwaram project corporation was taken to ensure project benefits reach farmers early by raising resources for PRLIS from financial institutions for implementation of the project.
