State govt asked Krishna Board for 52.50 tmc of water

Department of Irrigation and Command Area Development on Saturday placed an indent with the Krishna River Management Board (KRMB) for release of 52.50 tmc of water to meet its irrigation and drinking water needs.Engineer-in-Chief C Muralidhar wrote to the member secretary seeking release of 33 tmc to meet the irrigation needs during kharif in an ayacut of 6,25,088 acres in Zone-I and Zone-II, 12 tmc for filling tanks under AMR SLBC project till November and 7.5 tmc to meet drinking water needs under Mission Bhagiratha programme and the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply till December. 


He said that the indent was in addition to the water releases already approved by the KRMB. The Srisailam project which is about to touch the FRL of 885 ft, had 138 tmc above the minimum drawdown level (MDDL) of 834 feet.Similarly Nagarjuna Sagar Project has 138 tmc above the minimum drawdown level.
