Officials told to set up water tanks for cattle


Minister for Transport P. Mahender Reddy on Saturday stated that the he would pursue all funds required for development of Ranga Reddy, Medchal and Vikarabad districts.


Speaking at the general body meeting of the erstwhile Ranga Reddy district Zilla Parishad here, he said the government was ready to give as many funds as required to meet the drinking water needs of people. He explained that about Rs. 2,000 crore was being spent for providing protected drinking water to every household under Mission Bhagiratha programme.


Restoration of tanks


Similarly, about Rs. 450 crore was already spent on restoration and revival of 1,350 minor irrigation tanks.


Zilla Parishad chairperon P. Sunitha Mahender Reddy directed the officials to ensure that no problem was caused to people in the matter of drinking water supply during summer.


She also told the officials to set up water tanks for cattle.


On the members’ demand for supply of drinking water through tankers wherever necessary, the Minister assured them that he would pursue release of necessary funds.


On the complaint that farmers were not paid input subsidy against the crop loss suffered, the Minister stated that Rs. 52 crore was already released and its disbursement to beneficiaries’ bank accounts was in progress.


Low-voltage


Responding to the issue of low-voltage being faced by farmers, the Minister directed the electricity department officials to set up new distribution transformers wherever necessary to overcome the problem.


Ranga Reddy District Collector M. Raghunandan Rao said steps were being taken to clear Rs.100 crore pending bills of drinking water supplied through tankers in villages after March 2016.


District Collector of Vikarabad D. Divya said steps would be taken to prevent recurrence of spurious seed problem raised by some members.
