Amazon Expanding Their Storge

The E-commerce company Amazon announced that they are going to establish 15 fulfilment centres.In that nine specialised ones for large appliances and remaiming are expansion existing centres across the country.This will helpful to  faster deliveries and better consumer connect and also to gear up for the summer demand.


Hyderabad fulfilment centre or warehouse at Medchal is to be expanded to 1.5 lakh cubic feet and other such expansions are to take place in Ahmedabad, Ludhiana, Kolkata and Bengaluru. Specialised large centres for refrigerators, washing machines and air-conditioners apart from furniture are coming up at Gurugram, Mumbai, Lucknow, Bhopal, Pune and Coimbatore – creating new storage of upto five million cubic feet.


Making the announcement at a press conference here on Monday, Akhil Saxena, vice-president, India customer fulfilment and Suchit Subhas, category leader - appliances, said the new centres will take the total number of fulfilment centres to 62 — six in Telangana, taking the total storage space to 18.5 million cubic feet.


About 5,000 products and 200 exclusive white goods of top brands shall be available, with customers having the option of paying monthly through easy instalments or EMIs and equipped with more information about product features to make a conscious buy online. There is also an option to call a tollfree helpline to know more before paying.


Customers can also decide the day and time of installation of refrigerators, TVs or ACs with on-the-spot exchange offers available, they explained, while refusing to say anything about the likely discounts this season or investments being made.


Amazon has increased its reach from 150 cities to 400 this year, opened 25 more exclusive delivery stations in addition to 35. Next day delivery service too has been taken to 10 more cities to 30.


“We have doubled our capacity — storage, delivery network and cities, in just one year to support the growth of various categories,” said Mr. Saxena, while Mr. Subhas added: “With this infrastructure addition, we want to extend scheduled and next day free delivery to more customers.”
