TS Government Planning For Eye Camps In Each Village

Telangana government planning to  comprehensive universal eye survey of the entire population by organising eye camps in each village across the State.Telangana's Health Minister C. Lakshma Reddy said in Legislative Assembly that the Spectacles will be distributed free of cost to those in need and the government is planning to conduct eye surgeries wherever required through the network of government and private hospitals as well as NGOs on Monday

Replying to a query during the Question Hour in Legislative Assembly, he said the proposed camps are in addition to ongoing efforts of the District Blindness Control Society and Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram.

To another query, he said deliveries in government hospitals increased from 31% to 50% since the introduction of KCR Kits and over 4.41 lakh women have benefited.

The government had intensified efforts to cater to the patient load consequent on introduction of the scheme and recruited 597 medical officers and 1,561 staff nurses so far.

In addition, more than 10,000 posts had been created by the government and these would be filled on regular basis through the Telangana State Public Service Commission and Department Selection Committees. Measures had been initiated to standardise labour rooms in different hospitals and so far 231 had been upgraded. The government conducted intensive training to more than 900 doctors under Dakshata, and midwifery course has been introduced to train nurses besides sanctioning of 12 maternal and child health centres.

On vacancies in government Nizamia Tibbi College by the MIM, he said there are 49 vacant posts in the teaching side and another 17 in paramedical side. In all, 69 doctors posts and 61 compounder posts are vacant in the regular unani dispensaries and 21 doctors and 30 compounder posts are vacant in the dispensaries under NRHM, he said.
