TRS will continue to give preferential treatment to women: MP Kavitha

The TRS Government is always criticized for not inducting a woman minister in the State Cabinet. Several questions were raised about the seriousness of the government in empowering women. However, Nizamabad MP K Kavitha claimed that the KCR government is giving highest priority to women empowerment and growth. She alleged that the previous governments failed to do justice to women. She said that the women leaders who lost in the elections are being enough importance and not just ignored.


Kavitha even said that there is no point in constantly speaking about absence of women in TRS cabinet, but rather focus on the programmes that TRS government is implementing for women. Woman have to be empowered in all sectors and not just in policymaking. She said importance is being given to the women who worked for the TRS and the Telangana movement. The MP asserted that the government will continue to give preferential treatment to women in all sectors. The Telangana Jagurti Leader credited KCR for giving fifty percent reservation to women in GHMC elections. She said that opportunities are being provided to ladies in market committees. Kavitha spoke about the various programmes like Kalyana Lakshmi, Shaadi Mubarak, and pension for single woman and beedi workers, initiated by TRS government. She acknowledged that the 2BHK homes and the 3acre land for Dalits are being registered in the name of female members of the family.


The TRS government is making the State safe for women and is even giving good prenatal healthcare and financial assistance to pregnant women. Kavitha said that the CM has instituted a three-member woman committee to handpick women candidates for the chairperson of a few Corporations and other nominated posts. The members of the committee including Kavitha consists of Deputy Speaker in the Legislative Assembly Padma Devender Reddy and Karimnagar ZP Chairperson Tula Uma. International Women’s Day celebrations were held in Telangana Bhavan where in the Nizambad MP asked women to come forward in every sector and asserted that they can achieve anything with self-confidence.
