Tourist attractions in Hyderabad’s Old City, including the Charminar, will remain closed on Sunday, September 14, due to the Milad-un-Nabi procession.

The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) announced the closure after a request from the local police. Online ticket sales have also been suspended for the day. Earlier this month, the Charminar was closed to visitors on September 6 during the Ganesh procession.

Police restrictions for the procession

Ahead of the event, Hyderabad police have issued strict guidelines. The use of DJs, loud music systems, and bike stunts has been banned. Officials warned that anyone breaking these rules will face legal action under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), Hyderabad City Police Act, and Noise Pollution Act.

A preparatory meeting was held on September 10 at Purani Haveli, chaired by DCP South Zone Sneha Mehra. Members of the Markazi Milad Juloos Committee, including its president and secretary, attended along with senior police officers. The committee agreed to follow all rules and confirmed that no DJ systems would be used.

Volunteers to help manage the crowd

To maintain order, the committee will deploy volunteers during the procession. They will wear special caps and T-shirts for easy identification. Organisers also assured that bike stunts, removal of silencers, and other nuisance activities will not be allowed.

Police further instructed that the procession must stay on one side of the road to avoid traffic disruption.

Commitment to a peaceful event

The Markazi Milad Juloos Committee promised full cooperation with Hyderabad police and said it would work to ensure a peaceful, safe, and well-organised Milad-un-Nabi procession.
